The Central Kentucky Lawyer Referral Service is a non-profit public service of the Fayette County Bar Association. The program was designed to assist persons who are able to pay normal attorney fees but whose ability to locate legal representation is discouraged by a lack of experience with the legal system, insufficient information about the type of services needed and fear of the potential costs of seeking an attorney.
About Us
Credibility – The Central Kentucky Lawyer Referral Service is a non profit public service of the Fayette County Bar Association and has been matching clients with Lexington area attorneys since 1995.
Experience – Attorneys on our service must meet specific requirements to accept client referrals and they average 18 years of experience.
Service - The Central Kentucky Lawyer Referral Service provides free referrals. Our attorneys may charge $25 for the first half hour of consultation. After hearing your legal issue our staff may elect to refer you to social service agency.
Quality – The Central Kentucky Lawyer Referral Service meets stringent American Bar Association Standards for Lawyer Referral and Information Services and is accredited by the ABA.
Explanatory Statement
Use of the ABA Lawyer Referral and Information Service logo indicates that this lawyer referral program has been reviewed by the ABA and meets the specific public service standards established by the ABA. ABA approved lawyer referral programs:
- Agree to establish and maintain objective experience requirements for their panel attorneys,
- Provide a mechanism for client feedback and for resolving client complaints,
- Do not limit the number of attorney who may join the Lawyer Referral and Information Service, provided that they meet the objective requirements for panel membership,
- Require and verify that all panel attorneys carry legal malpractice insurance.
Use of the logo indicates thais program meets ABA standards for lawyer referral services. Tha ABA does not review the qualifications of the individual lawyers who participate in the service. Click here for more detail on the ABA stanards.

Step #1: Call Us
Call the Central Kentucky Lawyer Referral Service at 859-225-8644 or email us with a brief summary of your issue.
Step #2: Ask
Helpful staff will interview you over the phone to determine the nature of your legal questions. Note: CKLRS staff are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice.
Step #3: Set Appointment
You will be given the name of an attorney to make an appointment with who has experience with your type of legal problem. (If your questions do not require legal help, you'll be directed to the appropriate source for assistance.)
Step #4: Get Answers
You'll be put in touch with a qualified lawyer to handle your specific legal matter. No fee is charged for calling the referral service. You may receive a reduced rate 1/2 hour consulation with the attorney ($25). However the Attorneys do charge their regular prices after the first 1/2 hour. They are not free or reduced rate.
